Tristan da Cunha 1963 (9th Apr) stampless cover via Cape Town to Southampton & struck with cachet type XII in violet. SG notes "from the 1961/63 volcano eruption & return to the island period vary from £30 to £120 due to philatelic usage on the one hand & scarce mailings from the small survey parties on the shore during this time. This is one of the last covers to get through without stamp as it has a partly obscured 20¢ to pay in black.
