1940 (16th July) Australia to Noumea intermediate leg on intended First Trans Pacific Airmail. All mail delayed in NZ due to outbreak of WWII. This original 1933 Aust to NZ flight card is signed by Ulm, Allan & Boulton (AAMC 348) with the addition of 6d Kingsford Smith ovptd "OS" & 3d KGVI tied by Enmore 31 AU 39 cds with neighbouring Regd label & GPO Sydney Air cds. Endorsed "Pan American Airways for "California Clipper" Australia - Noumea" by EA Crome & beside his address is the Auckland NZ receival cds dated 19 JL 40. "New Zealand - USA Air Mail Service Via New Caledonia, Canton Is. and Hawaii" cachet in violet & pilot signed by Capt. JH Tilton. Good cond & rarely seen. AAMC 905c, Cat. $450+ (2008)
